Pennsylvania, Governor Rendell, politics and racism

Published: 10:02 PM GMT-05, Tuesday, 12 February 2008

Today a story hit that Gov. Rendell of Pennsylvania said that Barak Obama will not win in his state because "some white voters are not ready for a black President."

As sad as it may be, that statement is true. Race is still very divisive in all areas of the US, whether people will admit it or not. And a sad fact for Pennsylvania is, it has one of the largest "white supremacy" populations in the country. In the central region of the state it is not at all uncommon to see white power fliers or stickers at gas stations, telephone poles, etc. These people are living with an 18th century mentality. I have heard, with my own ears, people from around here who hate blacks, hispanics, asians, anyone not white. But the saddest is the anti-jewish sentiments. Some of them honestly believe, because it how they were raised, that jews have horns, tails and kidnap christian babies to make matzah with the blood, the old blood libel myth. But the same is true of the race issues. These rural towns in the past decades have seen an influx of people "not from around here" and it is causing problems. It is just old fashioned ignorance, plain and simple. Granted these communities are not a significant percentage of the entire states population, but they are a percentage none the less.

So Gov. Rendells comment is technically true, but it really isn't a point I would go around talking about! I think tactless is a good word for it. And don't forget Ed Rendell is one of the most staunch supporters of Obama's rival, Hillary Clinton! And the fact that Hillary is behind in the delegate race, and with the PA primary next month, I wouldn't put say it was out of the question that the Hillary campaign might have a finger in this.

The reality is Rendells statement was stupid. And truth be told, if a Republican had said it, what would have happened? We have seen it before and we will see it again. The double standards of behavior. The double standard has done nothing to improve the racial differences in this country. Either a comment is wrong or its not, no matter who makes it, black, white, conservative, independant or liberal should make no difference!

Let's take this a step further. If anything Obama's full name is more of an asset than liability.

A Muslim woman who walks in front of her man is never taken seriously or respected. This is the case worldwide even in the U. S. It's more of a masculine/feminine protective thing than it is sexist anymore in America. Look at the lack of progress Madeline Albright, and Condoleezza Rice have made in the Mid-East over the past two decades. The horrific assassination of Benazir Bhutto confirms what some think of dominant women. This is not the time in our history to elect a female of any color or another White male.

Obama is the substantive person and face needed to lead America at this difficult time and turning point in our history. This will send a signal and set an example for the world to see that we have transcended race. Hillary and only White women have sat where no woman of color has ever been allowed to sit. It is 2008 and most White Americans, the young in particular, are now transcending race in spite of one too many older Whites still refusing to turn the page.

Barack H. Obama is the structural change needed for any hope of an authentic peace with substance and purpose. We will have a president who already has a track record of having good judgement and bridging gaps between people who rarely if ever communicate. The movement for CHANGE amongst the masses worldwide is real. If you have any sense of reason, you have to see the overall problems that have been caused by electing 43 White men to the presidency. Absolute power definitely corrupts. Let's CHANGE!

Why I will Vote for Hillary Clinton:

1. ENERGY: We know we need to change to Cheaper, Cleaner, DE-Centralized/NOT Monopoly controlled Energy.

  • Clinton states that her Energy Plan does not include nuclear; nuclear can be considered ... in the future .... IF and when they find a way to MAKE IT CHEAPER and Find a way to safely dispose of nuclear waste.

(Obama and McCain have said they are Pro-Nuclear).

2. ECONOMY: The Clintons are the only candidates with ANY experience in TURNING an ECONOMY around before it slides into economic meltdown .... engendering unprecedented economic growth .... during the 1990's ...following Reagan/Bush 1's wholesale looting of the majority of the public and the public treasury.

3. FOREIGN POLICY: Returning the Clintons to the White House will Return the Rest of The World's Governments and Peoples to the SAME unprecedented High Level of Goodwill, RESPECT, and TRUST for the U.S. Government as they had during Bill Clinton's administration.

4. COMPETENT QUALIFED PEOPLE RUNNING THE GOVERNMENT:

Same as during Bill Clinton's administration.

5. REAL PUBLIC SERVANTS instead of cronyism, payoffs, corruption in Government.

The Clinton administration was investigated far more than any other entity in the history of the world.

Investigated by people who hated them AND desperately wanted to find a way to find them guilty of payoffs, corruption, SOMETHING, anything ..... Following 8 years and hundreds of millions of dollars worth of investigations the Clintons were not found guilty of ANY KIND of political corruption --- (which practically makes them eligible for political Sainthood).

As best I can see the Clintons are the candidates being backed by the GOOD wealthy people. Bill Clinton has spent the past eight years .... promoting and expanding CHARITY - particularly among the rich.

When Clinton was president what kind of legislation did he manage to get passed- despite a Republican Controlled Congress?

Two Examples: The Family and Medical Leave Act .... for the benefit of ordinary American working class people, and the Clean Air and Clean Water Acts. (The two most essential elements for life on this planet.)

Put the Clintons back in the White House WITH a Democrat-Controlled Congress AND the REAL CHANGES We the People Need CAN get made.
